Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong Istana, Orchard Rd Singapore 238823
Dear Prime Minister:
Your nation has served as a role model for other countries in the areas of law and public administration. Singapore is also famous for its honesty and its intolerance of corruption. We Vietnamese human rights activists greatly respect you and your government.
We wish to bring to your attention that a Singapore company is trafficking in young Vietnamese women. Life Partner Matchmaker Pte Ltd advertises “certified Vietnamese virgin brides” for sale in marriage to Asian men. Its current internet ad (enquiry@lifepartnermatchmaker.com) displays a slide show of 87 new arrivals as of December 9, 2005, and mentions that the company also provides “online dating for activities, friendship, love, romance and marriage.” In short, the “services” provided are inhuman and denigrate all women everywhere.
We strongly protest this shameful form of modern-day slavery, and respectfully ask Singapore to put an immediate stop to the abuse and exploitation of these Vietnamese victims. This organization, which joined with Eva Management in 1996, is involved in buying and selling innocent Vietnamese girls and should be prosecuted to the full extent of Singapore law.
An international campaign has been started by the Vietnam Human Rights Network to ask people to sign petitions to put an end to this despicable practice. Protest letters are being sent to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Department of State, the Government of Vietnam, and international NGOs.
Respectfully yours,
Jackie Bong-Wright Commissioner for Women’s Affairs Vietnam Human Rights Network

The Hon. Condoleezza Rice Secretary of State Department of State 2201 C St, N.W. Washington, DC 20520
Dear Madame Secretary:
It was an honor for me to hear you speak at the Department of State last July when you introduced the Fifth Annual Trafficking in Persons Report. I was impressed by your strong personal commitment to the eradication of international human trafficking.
I am writing to you, on behalf of the Vietnam Human Rights Network, about the trafficking of young Vietnamese women by a company in Singapore, Life Partner Matchmaker Pte Ltd., that advertises “certified Vietnamese virgin brides” for sale in marriage to Asian men. Its current internet ad (enquiry@lifepartnermatchmaker.com) displays a slide show of 87 new arrivals as of December 9, 2005, and mentions that the company provides “online dating for activities, friendship, love, romance and marriage.” In short, the “services” provided are inhuman and denigrate women everywhere.
We strongly protest this shameful form of modern-day slavery, and respectfully ask that the United States request Singapore to put an immediate stop to the activities of this company and similar ones for their abuse and exploitation of these Vietnamese victims. These organizations are involved in buying and selling innocent girls and should be prosecuted to the full extent of Singaporean law.
An international campaign has been started by the Vietnam Human Rights Network to ask people to sign petitions to put an end to this shameful practice. Protest letters are being sent to the Governments of Singapore and Vietnam, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, the U.S. Congress and international NGOs.
We profoundly hope that the United States will support our campaign by bringing international attention to these Vietnamese victims, and will let the countries involved, especially Vietnam, know that we find human trafficking completely intolerable.
Respectfully yours,
Jackie Bong-Wright Commissioner for Women’s Affairs Vietnam Human Rights Network

Ms. Sharon Cohn Vice President for Interventions International Justice Mission PO Box 58147 Washington, DC 20037-8147
Dear Ms. Cohn,
We the Vietnamese American Human Rights activists would again like to express our gratitude to you for having rescued 37 Vietnamese girls from criminals in Cambodia. Your account of this crime, along with the DateLine NBC segment “Children on Fire,” sent a strong message to the 500 people present at our gala dinner last November 11. We hope that your appearance will be but the beginning of a long-lasting and fruitful working relationship.
We hereby wish to bring to your attention the trafficking of young Vietnamese women by Life Partner Matchmaker Pte Ltd in Singapore as indicated by its advertisements of “certified Vietnamese virgin brides” for sale in marriage to Asian men. Its current internet ad (enquiry@lifepartnermatchmaker.com) displays a slide show of 87 new arrivals as of December 9, 2005, and mentions that the company provides “online dating for activities, friendship, love, romance and marriage.” In short, the “services” provided are inhuman and denigrating to all women everywhere.
We strongly protest this shameful form of modern-day slavery, and ask you to condemn the abuse of these Vietnamese victims. Protest letters are being sent to the Governments of Singapore and Vietnam, the U.N High Commissioner for Human Rights, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Department of State, and international NGOs.
We would like to see International Justice Mission work toward the prosecution of Life Partner Matchmaker Pte Ltd. and its principals. We would appreciate it very much if you decide to support this endeavor.
Sincerely yours,
Jackie Bong-Wright Commissioner for Women’s Affairs Vietnam Human Rights Network
